........... GRABAAWR GReat Annual Bicycle Adventure Along the Wisconsin River June 16 - 23, 2012 Our 27th year! If you love a challenging tour with plenty of miles, hills to climb and TONS of fun, then GRABAAWR® is the tour for you. With spectacular vistas, friendly communities, fabulous food stops, cool swimming holes, hundreds of riders to meet, fun on two wheels and more, GRABAAWR® will provide memories to last a lifetime. GRABAAWR® 2012 will start in Eagle River, a Northwoods town near the headwaters of the mighty Wisconsin River. We will cover about 70 miles a day – and we'll offer a century route option for people who want an extra challenge. It's up to you whether you want to ride 440 miles during the week or more than 500! New for 2012, no charge for week-long parking at the staging area and PreRide Camping is also no charge too. We have plenty of revelry planned for the tour, starting with a ice cream social on the first night and lots of fun activities along the way. We'll have overnights in Rhinelander, Merrill, Stevens Point, Adams-Friendship and Baraboo before winding up in Prairie du Chien. Our route along the Wisconsin River has some of the best scenic roads anywhere. The tour starts at the headwaters of the magnificent Wisconsin River near the border of the upper peninsula of Michigan. The route follows low-traffic roads along the 427-mile length of the river as it winds through the Northwoods, central sand counties, and the driftless area of Wisconsin’ dairy land. GRABAAWR® covers seven days of cycling - an average of 70 miles per day. Daily distances range from 55 miles to 85 miles. A century option is available. You will experience a combination of rolling and challenging hills as well as flat sections along route. The tour is limited to 1000 cyclists. Challenging cycling ability level. GRABAAWR® is a fully supported tour. Your luggage is hauled from each overnight city and will be waiting for your when you arrive. All you have to do is bike! Don't miss the fun.
