First Time Riders
New to Week-long cycle tours? No Problem!
Each year, Bike Wisconsin® welcomes many new riders on tour (recently, we had over 95 first-time riders – almost 20% of the rider total!). A large number of these are riders had never participated in a multi-day, supported bicycle tour. We are always delighted when we see a healthy number of first time riders getting ready to experience the pleasure of bike touring.
For our new riders, we offer a unique ‘First Time Rider’ program. It will include valuable tips throughout the year in the tour enewsletter.
Also at the beginning of the tour there will be a meeting to provide you with suggestions to help make you're ride safer, less stressful and more enjoyable.
Guidance will cover: cycling etiquette, riding and passing safety, hand signals, hydration, health safety, mechanical issues, and how to effectively shift your bicycle are but a few of the many topics covered. The meeting also lets new riders meet other new riders and an opportunity to ask questions to our experts. We'd also like to hear how the tour is going and followup with you during the tour. In the past 6 years we have had over 400 people complete the program.
