2009 Northwest WI Loop Route
Welcome to Wisconsin!
Nicknamed “America’s Dairyland,” for being the leader of cheese, Wisconsin was first settled by Ho-Chunk, Dakota, and Ojibwe tribes, it was later settled by British, Germans, Scandinavians, Polish, Hispanic, Asians and Amish. There are plenty of backroads to ride and enjoy with scenic lakes, deep-wooded forests, rolling farmland and of course, cows.

  • Start the tour up in Cable WI at the Telemark Resort.
Update 2/25: Enjoy "Louie the Voyager" tell stories and sing songs around the nothwoods campfire.
  • Stroll along and see Copper Falls State Park just outside Mellen.
  • Bike through Ashland, Lake Superior’s Hometown www.visitashland.com – be sure to visit the Ore Dock, largest of it’s kind anywhere
  • Ashland Breakwater Lighthouse - Chequamegon Bay: Built in 1913. Can be seen pretty much from any coastline in Ashland.
  • Ashland Mural Walk: The 8 block main street business district, listed on the National Register for Historic places, is the background for a fascinating walk through Ashland's history as seen through the eyes of local artists the murals depict people from Ashland's past.
  • Take in the splendor of Glacier-rounded hills and plentiful lakes of the Chequamegon National Forest
  • Take the ferry across Chequuamegon Bay to Madeline Island and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore
  • Stay in the small fishing village of Port Wing
  • Stroll across the covered bridge at Amnicon Falls State Park
  • Spend an overnight in Superior. Where you can see the World's longest sand bar and The World's Largest Accordion Museum. Take the shuttle bus over to Duluth to see the Lift Bridge and walk along Canal Park to the Fitger's Brewhouse Brewery. Much do see and do in Duluth and Superior.
  • See the highest waterfall, (165 feet), in Wisconsin at Pattison State Park
  • Enjoy Wisconsin favorites – ice cream, bratwurst (you’ll learn to just say ‘brats’) and of course, fresh cheese curds
  • You'll be fascinated to meet, and hear the story of the maker of the self-proclamied World's Largest Ball of Twine. A true Wisconsin original. Not to be missed! Bring your cameras.
  • Fun evening entertainment!  Music, games, talent show and nightly prize drawings
  • Great People  You’ll meet the friendliest people, from helpful staff to fun cycling partners
  • Welcome barbeque to kick off the ride and Celebration Lunch to commemorate the finish

And much more… Come join the fun!

"This was one of the best group ride experiences I've had... because then you can get to know people and have wonderful conversations. There is more of a friendly and supportive sense about the ride. No long lines for the port potty. I found the entire staff very friendly and caring," Cheri S. Shoreview MN
